Speech-Language
The Speech-Language Pathologist, available on a consultant basis, provides therapy to those patients with speech impairments and post-stroke difficulties, assesses memory loss, teaches coping strategies, and sets up alternative communication systems if needed.
The speech pathologist also addresses swallowing difficulties, identifies problems, recommends required tests, follows-up with physicians, initiates therapies, and provides patient, family, and staff education.
The speech pathologist participates in discharge planning and makes referrals to appropriate agencies and therapists in the community.
